Analysis of reasons for incomplete cutting of workpieces in fiber laser cutting machines

2024-04-22

The inability of fiber laser cutting machine to cut through workpieces can be analyzed from the following three aspects:

1. Auxiliary gas. When using a fiber laser cutting machine for cutting, a certain amount of auxiliary gas is required. At this time, the auxiliary gas must have sufficient pressure to thoroughly remove the waste generated during cutting. Generally, when cutting thicker workpieces, the air pressure should be reduced slightly, and the residue adhering to the workpiece will damage the cutting edge. Increasing gas pressure can improve cutting speed, but after reaching a maximum value, continuing to increase gas pressure can actually cause a decrease in cutting speed. This interference can affect the melting efficiency and sometimes alter the pattern structure, leading to a decrease in cutting quality. If the beam is too divergent, causing the spot to be too large, it may even result in serious consequences of ineffective cutting.

2. The accuracy of the workbench. If the accuracy of the workbench is uneven or for other reasons, it can also lead to high-precision laser cutting effects.

3. Laser beam. The beam emitted by the laser is conical, so the cut gaps are also conical. In this case, stainless steel with a thickness of 0.4mm will be much smaller than the cut gaps of 3mm. Therefore, the shape of the laser beam is a major factor affecting the cutting accuracy of metal laser cutting machines. Under this conical laser beam condition, the thicker the workpiece, the lower the accuracy, resulting in a larger cutting seam. Even for the same material, if the composition of the material is different, the cutting accuracy will also vary. Therefore, the material of the workpiece also has a certain impact on the accuracy of laser cutting. In addition, the following situations are also the main reasons for the instability of laser cutting machine processing: the selection of laser head nozzles does not match the thickness of the processed plate; The laser cutting line speed is too fast, and operation control is needed to reduce the line speed; The nozzle induction is not accurate and the error in the laser focus position is too large. It is necessary to retest the nozzle induction data, especially when cutting aluminum, which is most likely to occur.
